CROSSVILLE – The Cumberland Medical Center Board of Directors honored Seth Eckelson at its regular monthly Board meeting held on July 22, 2013. Seth, a seventh grader at Pine View Elementary School, along with his mother, Rachel Eckelson, joined the Board for lunch and a viewing of Seth’s documentary entitled, Dr. May Cravath Wharton – Reshaping Medicine on Tennessee’s Cumberland Plateau. Seth developed the documentary for a school history project which had a theme of Turning Points in History: People, Ideas, Events.
The Board presented a framed resolution to Seth expressing appreciation for the documentary which captures the historical significance of Dr. Wharton’s dream of providing quality healthcare to the community which culminated with the opening of Cumberland Medical Center in March 1950.
The documentary will be linked to CMC’s website at www.cmchealthcare.org and will be shared with new employees in future orientation programs. Seth placed second in the state competition which entitled him to a trip to Washington, D.C., for the national competition.
