COOKEVILLE – Cookeville Regional Medical Center proudly welcomes cardiologist Joshua Spencer, M.D. to its medical staff, bringing the number of cardiologists on staff to 10. Dr. Spencer joins the medical practice of Tennessee Heart along with fellow cardiologists Mariano Battaglia, M.D., Stacy Brewington, M.D., Alex Case, M.D., Brian Dockery, M.D., Tim Fournet, M.D., Thomas Little, M.D., Scott Reising, M.D., Gary Reynolds, M.D. and electrophysiologist/arrhythmias specialist Mark Wathen, M.D.

Dr. Spencer received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee in Memphis in 2005 where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and was elected as a third year student into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He then performed his internal medicine residency at the University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill, NC. He recently completed a fellowship in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology at St.Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind. Dr. Spencer is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Cardiology.

In addition to seeing patients in his office and at the hospital, Dr. Spencer will be performing interventional cardiac procedures in the Heart and Vascular Center at Cookeville Regional, recognized for the past three years as number one in Tennessee for Coronary Interventional Procedures (including PCI – percutaneous coronary intervention, or opening of a blocked artery) as well as among America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Cardiac Care.
