Senior Citizens Warned About Medical Alert Phone Scam

CROSSVILLE – The Cumberland Medical Center Auxiliary is warning senior citizens of a medical alert telephone scam.  The scam is spreading across the state and has reached Cumberland County.  The caller eludes that the recipient’s child or physician has signed them up for a medical alert system, and then proceeds to make arrangements for the delivery of equipment.  The next step involves asking for credit card or bank information.

CMC’s Auxiliary offers Philips Lifeline Medical Alert Service, a personal emergency response system.  The program does not make solicitation calls.
